With the help of Rotary International and the Rotary Club of Rubaga, the Safe Water Project from 2018 will be used as a model and prototype to install a well in Nakiragala, Uganda at the Give Her a Chance Orphanage. A water pump, water storage tank, and solar panels will also be installed. The solar panels provide the energy used to pump the water, run the filter, and chlorinate the water for safe usage. The implementation of this sustainable filtration system no longer requires boiling water, which allows community members to drink directly from the tap. This well will provide safe water to approximately 1000 students from the St. Francis School and the Give Her A Chance School and Orphanage, 100 teachers and administrators, and 400 support staff and families. Because this is a sustainable and an income-generating project, savings will be used to cover unexpected well repairs and community water infrastructure expansions.
